journeys past: cambodia

February 26, 2016

Many moons ago I embarked on a journey to Cambodia with a good friend to celebrate the new year at Angkor Wat. I had no idea what I was in for; dizzying heat, huge language barriers, awe inspiring landscapes, meals that can never be replicated and moments of mystical wonder that I'll never be able to describe. This was the rip where I realized that it really is darkest before the dawn and that dawn begets sunrise. As my friends and I watched the new years sun rise over the temples I still remember the weight of the air and those first rays of sun breaking, silhouetting the enormous temples as I tried to take it all in—deep inside my heart with all my senses.
